
Saints Swept by State College of Florida
Two days after the Saints beat State College of Florida in Gainesville, the Manatees knocked the Saints off twice to win the conference series.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Saints were shutout as State College of Florida won 9-0. For the Manatees, it was three runs in the bottom of the first, two runs in the third, and a four spot in the bottom of the sixth in a seven-inning contest. Ryan Chase was the bright spot offensively with a 2-3 game. Matthew Pagan got the start for SF going 5.0 innings. Pagan allowed eight hits, seven runs (five earned runs), and struck out two. Chappell came in relief going 1.0 innings allowing two hits and two runs. Chappell walked two batters.
In game two of the doubleheader, the Saints fell behind early but were able to tie it up midway through the game before State College of Florida pulled out a 6-4 win. The Manatees jumped to a 3-0 lead after three innings. The Saints then scored two in the fourth and two in the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead. The lead was short-lived as State College of Florida scored one in the fifth inning's home half to tie it at 4-4. In the sixth inning, the Manatees scored two runs to take a 6-34 lead, which held through the final three innings.
Three different Saints had multi-hit performances. Robert Nedry went 3-5 with two runs batted in and one run scored. Nedry hit the day's only homerun for SF. Griffin Sorrow and Trey Freeman both had two hit performances. Freeman scored one run. Rex Smith drove in two Saints in the game. Lucas Johns started the ball game but was pulled after two innings of work. Johns gave up three runs (two earned runs) in his outing. Donovan Rabiei, Dylan Lovelace, Stephen Joyce, and Macklin Miller all saw action in the series' final game. Lovelace picked up the loss in 1.2 innings of work allowing two hits and three runs.
The Saints are back in action on Thursday at St. Petersburg. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
