
Saints Split the Day, Lose the Series
Santa Fe traveled to Hillsborough Community College for the final day of Santa Fe baseball in the 2025 season.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Saints win the pitching battle by a score of 2-1. The Saints fell behind in the bottom of the first inning when the Hawks could score one run. The offenses remained quiet until the top of the fifth inning when Ryan Chase drove in the only two runs for SF. Santa Fe shut the doors defensively in the final six innings.
Chase was 1-3 with two runs driven in to lead the Saints. Robert Nedry went 2-4 on the afternoon. Nedry was the only Saint with a multi-hit performance. Maddox Lee reached base twice with two walks. Matthew Pagam received the ball in the start going 6.0 innings allowing just three hits and one run. Pagan struck out three and walked two in the win. Stephen Joyce received the save in 1.0 innings striking one batter out.
In game two of the doubleheader the Saints come from behind effort fell short in a 4-3 loss. Hillsborough scored one run in the first inning to take the early lead. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Hawks added two more runs to make it 3-0 A run for Santa Fe in the seventh kept them in striking distance, but Hillsborough added one in the home half to push the lead back to three runs. Santa Fe scored two runs in the ninth inning and had runners aboard, but could not complete the comeback falling 4-3.
Rex Smith led SF with two base hits in the game. Javier Soto, Nedry, and Lee all had one run batted in. The Saints used six different pitchers in the loss. Lucas Johns received his final start in a Santa Fe jersey going 3.0 innings allowing three hits and one unearned run. Donovan Rabiei pitched the next two innings allowing two unearned runs. Brady Wright, Mitchell Marlowe, Nick Staszak, and Macklin Miller all had short scoreless outings on the afternoon.
The Saints end the year with a 24-26, 15-18 record.
