Bio
Coach Kimmel begins his first year at Santa Fe College after spending the previous two seasons at Delaware State University. During his time at DSU, Tripp worked with pitchers, catchers, and outfielders, as well as hitters, and coached first base on gameday for the Hornets. In 2023, Tripp worked with St. Louis Cardinals 17th round pick Trey Paige. The Hornets made the NEC tournament in 2024 for the first time and had the NEC player of the year, Evan Bouldin. Tripp began his coaching career in 2022 as an assistant for the Marion Swamp Foxes in the Old North State Collegiate League.
Tripp played in 121 games over a 5 year career while receiving his undergraduate degree from Deleware State University and a masters degree in Sport Administration from Coker University in South Carolina. In 2021, he started 37 games for the Hornets as the everyday right fielder and lead the MEAC conference in outfield assists. A true utility player, Tripp started at least one game at every position during his college career except shortstop. Tripp’s career highlight was hitting a grand slam in his last at bat for the Hornets during the 2021 MEAC tournament. Tripp finished his career at Coker University starting 37 games in centerfield for the Cobras.
