Lake Worth, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (3-1) dropped their first game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Broward College in a tight contest, 82-79. The Saints once again displayed a balanced attack with five players hitting double figures.
The Seahawks jumped out early and led 19-5 and looked to be in control, but the Saints answered by going on a 25-11 run to knot the score at 30-30. Broward broke the tie right before half with a basket to take a 32-30 lead into halftime.
In the second half SF continued their momentum from the final ten minutes of the first half and built themselves a double digit lead. Broward answered with a flurry of three pointers to retake the lead and held on down the stretch for the three point win.
"We played well over the final 10 minutes of the first half and for about eight or nine minutes in the second half," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "We will learn from this and learn to play better for 40 minutes. We will get back to the practice floor and prepared for our game Tuesday."
Michael Sanchez led SF with 19 points, Brandon Williams and Jaquel Taft had 12 each, Morris Marshall 11, and Allen Baez 10.
The Saints will be back in action on Tuesday, November 11 at home against TAAG Academy at 7:00 PM.
