Gainesville, FL – The College of Central Florida held the Santa Fe Saints to their worst outside shooting night of the season, not allowing a single three point make by SF in 21 attempts.
"We really had trouble shooting the ball tonight and a lot of that credit has to go to the CF defense," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "They pressured us the entire game and never let us get comfortable. It's tough to win games when you don't make free throws or outside shots."
Santa Fe never got into a flow offensively and found themselves trailing 36-24 at the half.
The Saints (14-10, 1-3 MFC) showed some signs of life in the second half, cutting the score to seven on two occasions, but couldn't get it any closer as the Patriots pulled away down the stretch for the 20 point win.
Allen Baez led the Saints with 14 points, Brandon Williams had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Morris Marshall scored 10.
The Saints will host Florida State College-Jacksonville on Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night, Wednesday, February 4 at 7:00 PM.
