Daytona, FL – Tanksley Efianayi and the Daytona State Falcons stayed hot on Saturday afternoon, defeating Santa Fe College 88-76 to improve to 5-1 in the Mid-Florida Conference, tied in first with the College of Central Florida.
The shorthanded Saints struggled to slow down the offensive pace of the Falcons in the first half and trailed 42-33 at the break.
Daytona kept the pressure up in the second half and outscored the Saints 46-43 to take the game by 12 points.
Santa Fe was very efficient from the field, shooting 50% from the field as a team, and also made 72% of their free throws. An issue that plagued the SF defense was the inability to contain the outside shooting of the Falcons. DSC made 11 three pointers, including six in the second half.
Allen Baez scored 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds off the Santa Fe bench, and Morris Marshall pitched in 19 points and five rebounds. Efianayi led all scorers with 27.
The Saints are now 15-11 overall and 2-4 in MFC play. They will take a week off before returning to action in Ocala against the College of Central Florida on February 14 at 4:00 PM. Fans can watch live on www.ihigh.com/collegeofcentralfla
