Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (1-1) came out flat against Indian River State College, and never recovered, falling to the Pioneers 81-66 for their first loss of the season.
SF trailed by as many as 19 in the early going, getting behind 27-8 before cutting it to a three point lead at 47-44. That was as close as they would get it as SF turned it over three straight possessions, leading to six points for Indian River and a lead they wouldn't surrender.
"Indian River shot the ball and played very well," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "We didn't shoot the ball well from the free throw line, turned it over far too often, and played poor defense."
Alex Brown led SF with 15 points, and Ty Birts had 13.
The Saints will travel to Palm Beach State College to battle Broward College on Friday, November 6 at 5:30 PM, and on Saturday play Palm Beach at 4:00 PM
