Saints fall short to Polk, 75-65
The Santa Fe Saints got out to a quick lead but couldn't hold off Polk State as the Eagles came back to earn a 75-65 win in overtime Saturday afternoon in Winter Haven.
The Saints led 33-15 at the half, but a variety of troubles set in and the Eagles rallied back.
"We had a few guys in foul trouble, committed too many turnovers and we didn't make our free throws," said SF Head Coach Chris Mowry. "Then late in the game fatigue set in."
The Saints led by 14 with 10 minutes to play, but it took a basket by Bosco Bojovic with one second left in regulation to send the game to overtime.
The Eagles scored the first 10 points in the extra session and closed out the game.
Miles Coleman scored 16 points to lead the Saints while John Mason added 15.
SF (9-6) will break for the holidays and will return to the court on New Year's Eve when the host St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Canada) for a 2 pm game at the SF gymnasium.
