Saints Stumble at Indian River
Saints men's basketball team took a tough 88-69 loss at Indian River State College Saturday, November 23.
The Saints unsuccessfully tried to keep up with the Pioneers but found themselves down 52-37 after the first half, fueled by multiple second-chance Pioneer possessions.
"Indian River had a great first half, making nine 'threes' and attacking the basket; they really hurt us with offensive rebounds," stated Saints head coach Chris Mowry.
While the Saints had a better showing after halftime in limiting their opponents' offensive rebounding, eventually IRSC kept the Saints at bay long enough to claim the win.
Mowry continued, "We were much better defensively in the second half and were able to cut the lead to seven points around the four-minute mark but it's very hard to beat a good team on the road when you give up 52 points in a half."
Nikola Jerotic had 13 points for the Saints. Jay Medor added 12 points.
The Saints (5-3, 0-0 MFC) host Florida Gateway College at home for doubleheader action on Tuesday, November 26 at 7:30 p.m. Saints women's basketball compete against Chipola College at 5:30 p.m.
