Saints Unable to Take Down SCF
Saints men's basketball lost a close game against State College of Florida, Sarasota-Manatee, 84-80 Saturday, December 7.
The first half saw the Saints and the Manatees challenge each other with the Saints up 45-43 at the half, behind Ryan Leonard's 13-point first half.
The second half was just as intense with both teams vying for the lead. In the end, the Saints lost the battle in the defeat.
"It was a hard-fought game," stated Saints head coach Chris Mowry. "Ryan had a big game for us – so did Yaw (Obeng-Mensah) and Josiah (Tynes) as they reached double figures."
Mowry added, "Jovan gave us a big boost off the bench with 13 points."
Leonard had 22 points overall for the Saints. Obeng-Mensah added 16 points of his own while Tynes contributed 13 points.
The Saints (6-6, 0-0 MFC) host the Florida Colleges Men's Basketball Shootout on Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15. The team plays at 1 p.m. on both dates, taking on Indian River State College on Saturday and Broward College on Sunday.
