Saints Outpaced by Broward College, 74-69
Saints men's basketball wrapped up their second game of the Florida Colleges Men's Basketball Shootout with a loss at the hands of the Broward College Seahawks, 74-69 Sunday, December 15.
The Saints held their own for the first half of play despite many attempts by the Seahawks chipping away at the margin of points between both teams.
After a 26-23 first half in favor of the Saints, the Seahawks turned on the offense in the second half and outscored the Saints on a 22-4 run in the first five minutes back on the court.
The margin only got bigger as the game wore on, and the Saints tried their best to catch up but could not close enough by the end of regulation.
"Another great first half for us defensively today," stated Saints head coach Chris Mowry. "Unfortunately, just like yesterday our turnovers led us to only scoring 26-23 at the break."
Mowry added, "Broward had a great second half, and DeAndre Pinckney showed why he's a high Division 1 player."
Surmising the weekend of play, Mowry said, "We will continue to work to get better, staring tomorrow in practice. If we can learn from these experiences, it will pay off when we begin our conference play."
Noah Thorp scored 18 points in the loss. Teammate Yaw Obeng-Mensah added 16 points and nine rebounds. Luka Filipovic contributed 12 points with eight rebounds.
The Saints (6-8, 0-0 MFC) take on Impact Academy in their final home game of the year on Tuesday, December 17 at 4 p.m.
