After dropping game one 7-4, the Saints flexed their muscle at the plate in game two with an 11-9 win over the Titans to earn a split of their doubleheader in St. Petersburg Tuesday evening.

The Saints played small ball in the fourth inning of the second game when five singles accounted for four runs to break a 3-3 tie. But it was a big fly off the bat of sophomore Emily Yakel who connected for a three-run home run in the seventh that made the difference.

Yakel had nine total bases in the nightcap with a single, two doubles and a home run. The former Buchholz Bobcat also had a pair of hits in the opener and raised her season average from .273 to .400.

Cameron Trehy had three hits in game two and four on the day while Kaitlyn Bennett had three hits in the doubleheader. Trehy had six RBI on the day while Yakel had four.

Gabrielle Mathre (2-1) was the pitcher of record in both games, taking the loss in the opener and earning her second win of the year in game two.

SF (3-6) will have a few days off before traveling to Bradenton on Saturday to take on State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota for a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm.
