Down to her last strike, Karina Ortiz-Munoz hit a two-out, 3-2 pitch over the left field fence for a game winning three-run homerun in the seventh inning of the opener, but four homeruns by the Raiders in the nightcap led to a doubleheader split with Santa Fe winning game one 4-3 and Seminole State College winning game two 9-5.

In game one SSC (31-11, 10-2 Mid-Florida Conference) led 3-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, until a leadoff double by Ortiz Munoz followed by an RBI single by Sophia Negron made it a 3-1 game going to the final inning.

Donnie Gobourne got the winning rally started in the seventh with a leadoff single and moved to second on a single by Gabi Mathre. Two outs later Ortiz-Munoz sent the game winning blast over the left field fence for a 4-3 win for the Saints.

"Karina's bat was the hero in the first game today," said SF head coach Lindsay Fico. "She came up with the biggest hit of her career to date with the walk-off. Sophia was also a huge part of our success."

Mathre pitched the first five innings of game one and Gobourne (3-6) earned the win with two innings of shutout relief.

"Our freshmen pitchers combined to through a very competitive game one," said Fico. "Gabi didn't let a rough first inning derail the rest of the game."  

The Raiders played "long ball" in game two with Chelsea Peace hitting two homeruns to bring her NJCAA leading total to 17 for the season and Taylor Langworthy and Peyton Germer adding one apiece to keep the Saints from sweeping the doubleheader.

Ortiz-Munoz finished with four hits, three runs scored and three RBI on the day to lead the Saints while Negron, Gobourne and Adriana Garip had three hits apiece.

The Saints (19-19, 7-5 MFC) will travel to Jacksonville on Thursday to take on Florida State College/Jacksonville for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. before returning home to host The College of Central Florida for a doubleheader on Saturday set to start at 1 p.m.
