Down to their final two outs in game one, the Saints rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh and a 5-4 win over Lake Sumter State College Sunday afternoon in Gainesville. The Lake Hawks took the nightcap 7-2.

LSSC starter Allie Geier was breezing along in the opener with a no-hitter through five innings and a one-hitter with a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh when the Saints bats finally came to life. After the leadoff hitter was retired, the Saints strung six singles together to make it 4-3 and Cameron Trehy finished things off with a two-run, walk-off, bases loaded single that scored Jessica Parsells and Karina Ortiz-Munoz.

"Another impressive seventh inning comeback," said SF head coach Lindsay Fico. "I can't say enough about their effort in the seventh inning."

Gabi Mathre started and worked three innings in the circle for the Saints and Tihana Zupanic worked three innings in relief, but it was Donnie Gobourne (4-5) who earned the win with a scoreless top of the seventh.

"The fact we were able to string together that many hits was amazing," said Fico. "It would have been easier on my nerves if they had done it a little earlier, but it made for an exciting finish."

The Lake Hawks (26-28, 9-13 Mid-Florida Conference) broke a 2-2 tie in the nightcap with a run in the fifth and four more in the sixth to take a 7-2 win.

Trehy had two hits and three runs batted in on the day for the Saints while Adriana Garip and Jolie Watson also had two hits apiece.

The Saints are presently 10-10 in the MFC standings with four games to play and find themselves battling Florida State College/Jacksonville for third place. The MFC regular season champs will advance to the FCSAA State Tournament with teams two through four playing a MFC tournament to determine the second seed out of the conference.

The Saints (22-24, 10-10 MFC) will host St. Johns River State College for a doubleheader on Thursday with game one scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. before winding up the regular season with a doubleheader at Seminole State College next Saturday.
