GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe Softball extended their winning streak to five games, cruising past Florida State College at Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon in two run-ruled affairs.
GAME 1 - SANTA FE 10, FSCJ 2 (5 INN.)
Five runs in the opening inning put the Saints in complete control, and SF never let up. Keeli Zingaro had a two-RBI double, and later in the inning, Abrianna Hickox had a sacrifice fly. Morgan Lebeda cleared the fence with a two-run jack to put the stamp on the big inning.
After a single run in the second, the Saints put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the fourth, all via a Grand Slam to center field from Hickox.
The Saints' offense brought across the ten runs via ten hits. Hickox led the way with five RBI.
Sophie Abrams was the winning pitcher, throwing the complete game with four hits allowed, two earned runs, four walks, and two K's. She improved to 3-1 from the circle.
GAME 2 - SANTA FE 12, FSCJ 0 (5 INN.)
Game 2 was more of the same, as the Saints offense could not be slowed by the Blue Wave.
Leading 5-0 headed into the bottom of the fourth, after Zingaro had a three-run homer in the third, the Saints put the game away with seven runs.
Addison Joseph joined the party with a two-run homer, then Madison Dixon made it back-to-back.
Later in the frame, Ayanna Woodard had an inside-the-park home run drive in two, and the final two runs were produced on a two-RBI single from Adrianna Saavedra.
Darian Ingram tossed a two-hit shutout in the complete game from the circle, allowing just one walk while striking out six.
