
Saints Open the 2025 Season with a Pair of Losses
Santa Fe traveled to Madeira Beach, Florida for the JUCO Kickoff Classic on Friday afternoon to take on St. Petersburg College and Gulf Coast State College.

Madeira Beach, FL
Santa Fe (0-1) falls 6-5 to St. Petersburg (1-0) in Madeira Beach, Florida for the JUCO Kickoff Classic. The Saints went to Belle Mancillas to start in the circle. Mancillas went 5.0 innings allowing four hits, and three runs (two earned runs), striking out seven. Ryleigh Bennett came in to replace Mancilla in the sixth inning, allowing two hits and three unearned runs.
Santa Fe totaled five hits in the afternoon, and Sydney English was the bright spot offensively. English went 1-4 at the dish with two runs batted in and one walk. Karris Rhine was the only other Saint with an RBI. Rhine went 0-2 at the plate but walked twice and scored two runs.
In the second of two games on the day, the Saints were victims of a walk-off home run. Santa Fe (0-2) jumped out to a hot start on offense but was the victim of a sixth-inning grand slam and a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh that walked it off for Gulf Coast State College (1-1). The Commodores walked away with a 9-7 win.
The Saints are back in Madeira Beach tomorrow for two more games. SF will play St. John River State College at 2:00 PM and Walters State Community College at 7:00 PM.
