In game one of the day's doubleheader, the Saints knocked off Central Florida 10-4. Central Florida jumped out to an early lead in the first with a three-run homerun. The Saints then started getting their bats hot. A two spot in the bottom of the second inning, followed by a three spot in the third gave SF a 5-3 lead. The Saints piled it on in the fifth inning with five runs to take a 10-3 lead. A run in the sixth helped Central Florida keep the game going, but they could not fight back as the Saint's offense was too much.
SF had four players with multi-hit games. Olivia LaMeau, McKenzie Jewell, Camryn VanGalder, and Brooke Markiewicz all had two hits. LaMeau led the offense in RBI with three in game one, while Madison Conway, Markiewicz, and Tegan Grizzard all had two RBI. Both LaMeau and Grizzard hit homeruns in the first of two games. Ryleigh Bennett went 6.0 innings allowing four runs (one earned run), while striking out two. Belle Mancillas pitched in the seventh and allowed just one hit.
Game two of the doubleheader was a different story. The offenses took a break in the early going but picked up late. Central Florida scored one run in the second inning, while the Saints scored one in the third to tie the game. A run in the fifth inning helped SF take a 2-1 lead that held until the seventh. Central Florida scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take the 3-2 lead. With SF down to their final inning, Conway hit a three-run walk-off homerun to help the Saints sweep the doubleheader and propel SF to a four-game win streak.
Karris Rhine went 3-4 in game two, scoring three runs. Conway drove in four of the five runs in the second game. Jewell was 3-3 and drove in the only other run SF scored. Rhine was just a homerun away from hitting for the cycle. Ryleigh Bauer got the start in the circle for SF going just 1.2 innings, allowing one run, but walking six. Alexis Daphney pitched the next 1.1 innings, walking three batters, before Bell Mancillas finished the game going 4.0 innings to receive the win.
Santa Fe is back in action on Saturday versus Miami Dade College, with the first pitch scheduled for noon.
