Gainesville, FL – Sonya Franklin scored 17 points off the bench and Deja McPhee led the Saints in scoring for the second night in a row with 23 as FCSAA #9 Santa Fe (2-0) defeated a tough Miami Dade College team 80-72 in Gainesville on Saturday afternoon.

The game was close throughout the first half as the Saints pulled slightly ahead towards the end of the first 20 minutes for a 43-40 lead at the break. In the second half Franklin did most of her damage, helping the Saints build as much as an 11 point margin on the way to the eight point win.
The Saints dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Sharks 56-33 and outscored MDC from the free throw line 19-9.
Four players scored in double figures for SF, including 11 from Kayla Lovett, and a 10 point, 10 rebound performance from Karrah Johnson.
