Women's Basketball Hurdles Past Indian River, 61-43
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints turned up the defensive pressure from the outset Friday evening in the SF Holiday Classic against Indian River State College, holding the Pioneers to 29% shooting in route to a 61-43 victory. They also outrebounded Indian River 54-36 overall and 18-11 on the offensive end.

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints turned up the defensive pressure from the outset Friday evening in the SF Holiday Classic against Indian River State College, holding the Pioneers to 29% shooting in route to a 61-43 victory. They also outrebounded Indian River 54-36 overall and 18-11 on the offensive end.
Both teams started slow and the first basket of the game didn't come until Indian River hit a jumper at the 16:00 minute mark of the first half. The Saints (7-6) first basket was a second chance basket by Ashley Perry five minutes into the game.
The Pioneers (1-7) took an 8-2 lead before the offense clicked for SF who quickly scored six straight to tie the game up at 8-8. At the seven minute mark the SF offense took off and they outscored IRSC 16-6 to take a 28-18 lead into the locker room.
Santa Fe kept the pressure up in the second half and led by as many as 23 before closing out the 18 point win. Brianca Roberts led the surge in the second period, scoring nine of her 14 points.
Deja McPhee led the SF offense with 15, Roberts scored 14, Karrah Johnson had six points and seven rebounds, and Tatiana Manuel scored five points, pulled down seven boards and blocked three shots.
