Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints never quite got it going on offense Saturday afternoon against the College of Central Florida, dropping their second straight Mid-Florida Conference game 61-50.
The Saints led by as many as 10 in the first half, but the Patriots (16-4, 2-0 MFC) closed the period on a 23-10 run to take a 35-32 lead in to the locker room.
Santa Fe (9-8, 0-2 MFC) struggled to score in the second half as Central Florida slowly built a double digit lead, one that they would hold for the 11 point win.
Brazilian native and Central Florida forward Thais Oliviera led all scorers with 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Ashley Perry had 13 points and three steals for Santa Fe. Karrah Johnson led all players with 11 rebounds.
The Saints will head out on the road Wednesday, January 14 to battle MFC foe Daytona State College at 6:00 PM.
