Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints held their own with the nationally ranked Daytona State Falcons, but came up just short in the end, falling 61-57.
Santa Fe trailed 29-24 at the half, displaying good defense against the high powered offense of the Falcons, but couldn't get their offense on the right track.
They righted the ship in the second half by outscoring DSC 33-32 over the final 20 minutes, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons held on to pick up the win and stay a game behind the College of Central Florida for first place in the Mid-Florida Conference.
The loss drops SF to 11-15 overall and 2-9 in the MFC. The loss came despite 50% shooting from the field and 79% from the free throw line.
Four players scored in double figures for the Saints, including Deja McPhee with 13, Brianca Roberts 11, Ashley Perry 10, and Litisha Speights 10.
The Saints will play their season finale on Saturday, February 21 at 2:00 PM against Hillsborough CC.
