Gainesville, FL –NJCAA #3 Daytona State College remained undefeated in Mid-Florida Conference play on Wednesday night, defeating the Santa Fe Saints 68-53, the Falcons 25th straight victory. Their last loss came on November 3 and they've won their last 11 games by double digits.
The Saints (14-13, 6-5 MFC) hung with the offensively minded Falcons in the first quarter, leading by a score of 14-10 after the first 10 minutes. DSC (26-1, 10-0 MFC) found their rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring SF by nine to take a 34-29 lead into the break.
Santa Fe was never able to find a solid offensive rhythm in the second half, and despite holding the Falcons 17 points below their season average, fell by 15.
Rayven Wade was a bright spot for Santa Fe, scoring 13 points to go with 13 rebounds.
The loss didn't have any effect on the postseason for Santa Fe, who have already clinched the MFC #2 seed at the FCSAA Tournament in Ocala March 3-5. The Saints will play the Southern Conference #2 seed in first round action on March 3 at the College of Central Florida.
Before heading to Ocala for the FCSAA Tournament in March, SF will wrap up their regular season at the College of Central Florida on Saturday, February 20 at 5:30 PM.
