Gainesville, FL – The Blue Wave of Florida State College-Jacksonville erased a 21 point deficit on Wednesday evening, rallying all the way back to win an important Mid-Florida Conference game over the Santa Fe Saints 77-75
The Saints (17-8, 10-2 MFC) tore through the Blue Wave in the first quarter, jumping out to a 23-2 lead just eight minutes into the game before closing the opening frame ahead 27-13.
By the end of the half it was still a double digit lead for SF 43-30. The third quarter was a different story as the Blue Wave started to make strides and cut the deficit to six heading into the final frame.
Santa Fe rebuilt their lead to double digits again in the fourth quarter and led by nine with 3:56 to go. From there it was all Blue Wave as they scored the final 11 points of the game to pull off an improbable comeback.
The loss drops SF to 10-2 in MFC play but they are still just a win away from clinching the outright Mid-Florida Conference title.
The Saints will be on the road Saturday at Daytona State College at 2:00 PM with another chance to clinch the MFC title.
