Saints Falter in 68-61 Loss to FSW
The Santa Fe Saints battled back from an early deficit to take the lead 61-60 but failed to score in the final three possessions in their 68-61 loss to Florida Southwestern State College Friday night in Ocala.
The Buccaneers (3-1) jumped out to an early double-digit lead at 16-5 and expanded it to 36-19 at the half. The Saints (1-2) fought back to take the one-point lead but were unable to hold off the Buccaneers down the stretch.
"I really liked our second half fight and appreciated that the girls came back," said SF Head Coach Chanda Stebbins. "I would like to see us play like that from the beginning." Janasia Law led the Saints with 17 points and seven rebounds while Airneisha Gamble scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds and Chardell Jones had 11 points to go with four rebounds.
The Saints will finish up the trip against Miami-Dade today at 2:00 pm at the College of Central Florida in Ocala.
