Bunting, Titans too much for Saints
Tynasia Bunting scored 36 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to spark the Titans of Eastern Florida State College past the Santa Fe Saints 93-90 in overtime.
"This is a tough loss," said SF Head Coach Chanda Stebbins. "We had a large lead late in regulation and couldn't hold on."
The Saints (8-5) led at the end of each of the first three quarters, holding a 16-point advantage at 62-46 going into the final period. But Bunting led a Titan 36-point quarter by scoring 15 of her game high total.
"We have to work on our man-to-man defense and our help side defense," said Stebbins. "We gave up way too many buckets late in the game."
Stephanie Jackson led five Saints in double figures knocking down 24 points with Janasia Law adding 16 and Keaubree Edwards 14. Rhea Smith and Airneisha Gamble chipped in with 12 apiece.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Saints as the head into the holiday break. They return to action on Friday December 28 when they travel to Fort Myers to take on Broward State College at the Florida Southwestern State College Arena in a 1 pm tip off.
