Saints Notch Another Victory with Impressive Win
Rebounding coupled with aggressive offense led to victory in Monday evening's women's basketball game as the Saints hosted the Albany Technical College Titans on February 4, ending the night with an 82-52 win.
The Saints took the lead after the first two and a half minutes of the game and never looked back, and at one point led by as much as 40.
A spark to the offensive effort in the first quarter was Chardell Jones, quickly scoring six of her 10 points to get the ball rolling.
Saints Head Coach Chanda Stebbins notes, "I was very proud of our team energy and that resulted in a great rebounding margin of +19."
Clamping down defensively, the Saints held the Titans to just nine points in the third quarter. Truly a team effort, every Saints player saw action and contributed both offensively and defensively. "Great game by the entire team today," Stebbins continued, "We came out in the third quarter and really responded to the challenge we gave them; I would have liked to see us carry this over to the fourth quarter. It was nice to see our assists to be solidly better than our turnovers."
Stephanie Jackson led all scorers with 16 points and seven assists, with Camille Pringle adding 13 and Jones finishing with 12.
The Saints (16-7, 5-1 MFC) will hit the road in a showdown against FSC - Jacksonville on Saturday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m., before heading back home for their final regular season home game on Wednesday, February 13.
