Saints Grab Win Over Vixens
Santa Fe College women's basketball ran away with the win for their home opener against Elite Sports Prep Vixens, 135-52 on Wednesday, November 6.
The Saints controlled the game from the opening tip through all four quarters in the victory and set new SF records in the process. As the lead grew larger in each stanza, the team recorded the largest margin of victory at game's end with 83 points – one point more than the previous record earned in 2017.
A 74-point first half score surpassed their longstanding 1980 record of 70 points. The team also recorded 32 steals and had 61 rebounds compared to the Vixens' 22.
Saints head coach Chanda Stebbins stated, "It was nice to get everyone in the game and everyone scored." She added, "The rebound margin was also impressive."
Although the game heavily favored the Saints, Stebbins emphasized the need for team improvement. "We still need to fine-tune our play and get better at three-point shots."
Six Saints players had double-digit scoring with returning player Camille Pringle having 20 points and eight rebounds. Yairé Rodriguez contributed 18 points and Danasia Bogle chipped in with 17.
The Saints (1-2, 0-0 MFC) remain at home as they take on Indian River State College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 9.
