Saints Outscored by Tallahassee CC
Saints women's basketball could not convert field goal attempts into points as they lost to the Tallahassee Community College Eagles Tuesday, November 12 with a final score of 67-54.
The Saints held an ever-so-slight lead (9-5) in the first quarter before the Eagles caught up and quickly controlled the rest of the game. The Saints would not get closer than seven points behind at the beginning of the second half (21-28) before TCC widened the gap for the remainder of the night.
Rebounding was the highlight for the Saints as the offensive just couldn't get going. The Saints out-rebounded the much bigger Eagles team by 10.
Saints head coach Chanda Stebbins said, "We shot the ball really badly with a 16-percent first half." She continued, "We held them to 28 points in the first but gave up 24 points in the last quarter."
Stebbins elaborated on the night's scoring woes.
"Shots just weren't falling and missing easy put-backs hurt a lot. We have got to make the easy buckets and be more consistent," she stated.
Despite the struggle offensively, the game's leading scorer was the Saints' Aleisha Curry with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Zoé Alexander added nine points and 12 rebounds.
The Saints (2-3, 0-0 MFC) play their next game against Florida Prep in Ocala, FL on Friday, November 15.
