Saints Take Down Impact Academy, 62-37
The Saints women's basketball team gained their first win away from home as they defeated Impact Academy 62-37 on Friday, November 15.
With an explosive 23-point first quarter, the team pounced on their opponents early and controlled the scoreboard the rest of the game.
"I am really happy with the energy I saw from the team today," said Saints head coach Chanda Stebbins. "I liked how we responded to their size inside and limited their second-chance points."
All Saints players that were available to play did.
"It was nice to get valuable minutes from everyone who was dressed and able to play," Stebbins added.
Aleisha Curry led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points, six rebounds, three steals and one assist. Zoé Alexander chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.
Peris Starks had the best game of her young collegiate career with eight points and 11 rebounds, while Taniah Bowers rounded out her stat line with four points accompanied by 10 rebounds, four assists and six steals.
Stebbins stated, "We need to continue to work on ball security and get ready for a quick turnaround tomorrow to play Pensacola."
The Saints (3-3, 0-0 MFC) remain in Ocala and face Pensacola State College Saturday, November 16, 11 a.m.
