NICEVILLE, Fla. - Santa Fe women's basketball knew it would be in for a test at No. 2 Northwest Florida State College, and the Raiders proved to be too much for the Saints, 85-31.
The Saints fell behind 28-5 at the end of the opening ten minutes of play, and the Raiders were able to continue to control play throughout the remainder of the contest.
Facing an insurmountable deficit, Santa Fe found most of its offensive success in the final quarter, outscoring the Raiders 14-10.
Kelli Cunningham led the way offensively for the Saints in defeat, scoring nine points on 3-of-5 shooting from behind the three-point line.
Jasani Buchanan grabbed six rebounds to lead the Saints in that category, while Ashley Duviella and Keliya Johnson snagged five apiece.
Coach Stebbins' Take
"We have now seen what the best in the nation looks like and I think our players understand what it will take to improve to that level," said Head Coach Chanda Stebbins.
"I am proud that we kept fighting and working. We have a lot of work to do on the defensive end and have to get more balance from our offensive looks."
