Women's Basketball Dictates Play in 81-57 Win over Hillsborough
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Women's Basketball extended its winning streak to three games, evening the season-series with Hillsborough after a convincing 81-57 victory inside the SF Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.
The Saints never trailed and improved to 4-3 on the season during the nonconference slate.
First Quarter – SF 20, HCC 13
Santa Fe set the tone early and went ahead 7-0, with Kelli Cunningham starting where she left off with a three-pointer to open the game's scoring.
Five straight points from the Hawks made it a one possession game, but moments later when SF led 12-9 with 2:54 on the clock, the Saints netted five straight points to gain some separation once again, a stretch of play that included another Cunningham triple.
Second Quarter – SF 43, HCC 29
The Saints' lead was seven after the opening quarter, and they doubled that advantage by outscoring the Hawks 23-16 in the second frame.
Aleisha Curry had her way on the inside, producing seven points and four rebounds in the quarter to help put SF ahead comfortably headed into halftime.
Third Quarter – SF 67, HCC 43
The third quarter was the Saints' most dominant, outpacing HCC 24-14.
Malea Brown played the entirety of the frame and had nine points against the Hawks' defense.
The period was highlighted by a 13-0 run from the hosts that widened the gap and included four points from Olivia Smith.
Fourth Quarter – SF 81, HCC 57
In the final ten minutes, the lead grew to as large as 30 points, as SF remained in firm control and went on for the dominant win.

Santa Fe held Hillsborough to just 2-of-20 from behind the arc, a stark contrast from the season-opening, 90-85 defeat when the Hawks made 13.
Brown led the way with a game-high 24 points with six rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
O. Smith had her second-consecutive double-double, contributing 13 points and ten rebounds, while Curry added 13 points and seven rebounds of her own.
Taniah Bowers notched double-digit rebounds for the fourth time this season, snagging a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with nine points and four assists.
Cunningham finished with 12 points on four made three-pointers, and Selah Reddick excelled off the bench with 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
