Women’s Basketball's Fifth Straight Win Comes against Indian River, 65-57
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Women's Basketball picked up their fifth consecutive win with a positive result over Indian River State College on Saturday, beating the Pioneers 65-57.
The victory helped the Saints already surpass last season's win total and was the second time the Saints prevailed over Indian River.
First Quarter – SF 18, IRSC 17
The opening quarter was back-and-forth, and when the Saints appeared they may face a deficit at the end of the first ten minutes, Kelli Cunningham banked in a triple from just inside halfcourt at the buzzer to hand SF the 18-17 edge.
It was the second three-pointer in the quarter for Cunningham, the Saints' best three-point threat so far this season.
Second Quarter – SF 31, IRSC 27
The Saints held Indian River to just four field goals and ten points in the second frame and extended their lead to four at the halftime whistle.
Isabella Reynolds had six points in the quarter off the bench to provide a spark.
Third Quarter – SF 54, IRSC 43
On back-to-back nights, the third quarter is when SF gained some separation. In this one, the Saints outscored the Pioneers 23-16.
Aleisha Curry had her way on the interior and produced ten points in the quarter alone, doing most of her damage on the offensive glass.
Fourth Quarter – SF 65, IRSC 57
Although the Saints' offense had its struggles in the final quarter with just four field goals, they held Indian River to just three and the Pioneers were never able to make a surge.
