Women’s Basketball Suffers 81-58 Loss to No. 23 FSW
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – In the last game before the start of Central Conference play and the concluding matchup of 2021, Santa Fe College Women's Basketball was downed by No. 23 Florida Southwestern on a neutral court at Indian River State College, 81-58.
First Quarter – No. 23 FSW 21, SF 12
SF led 12-11 after a bucket in the paint from Malea Brown with 3:28 left in the quarter.
The Buccaneers ended the opening frame with a 10-0 run, however, including a basket in transition in the final seconds.
In the third game in as many days, the Saints were plagued by nine first quarter turnovers.
Second Quarter – No. 23 FSW 46, SF 27
SF cut the deficit to five points, 25-20, after an old-fashioned three-point play from Aleisha Curry with 8:30 on the clock.
FSW though would once again use a dominant stretch of play to open up an even bigger lead, producing 12 unanswered points to go up 37-20 nearing the quarter's midway point.
The Bucs' 19-point lead at the break was the game's largest so far.
Third Quarter – No. 23 FSW 68, SF 40
FSW's lead reached its peak at 31 points, 68-37, with 1:07 left in the third.
The Bucs outscored the Saints 22-13 in the period by going 8-of-12 from the field.
Selah Reddick had five points for the Saints' cause.
Fourth Quarter – No. 23 FSW 81, SF 58
Santa Fe played to the final whistle and was able to outscore FSW 18-13 in the final quarter, led by nine points from Brown.
The Saints' defeat, however, was the sixth of the season and second to FSW.

SF outrebounded FSW, 45-38.
17 of the Saints' 23 field goals came off assists.
Curry notched her ninth double-double of the season and fourth consecutive, recording team-highs in points (15) and rebounds (14). She went 7-of-10 from the floor for another efficient outing from the interior.
Olivia Smith accounted for ten points prior to fouling out of the contest, while Brown came off the bench and had 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Reddick dished out a season-high seven assists, and Taniah Bowers was active defensively to match a season-high by snagging five steals.
