Offense Sputters for Women’s Basketball at No. 25 Eastern Florida
MELBOURNE, Fla. – After a long layoff for the holidays, Santa Fe women's basketball had a tough task at No. 25 Eastern Florida in the Central Conference opener, and the Titans came away with a decisive win on Wednesday evening.
First Quarter – No. 25 EF 17, SF 9
An early basket from Aleisha Curry and a three-pointer from Isabella Reynolds put SF in front 5-2, but the Titans proceeded to net the next 11 points to seize a 13-5 lead.
The eight-point advantage would hold at the conclusion of the first quarter of play.
Second Quarter – No. 25 EF 35, SF 20
The Saints' deficit grew to as large as 20 points in the second quarter, but the Saints ended the half well with five straight points.
Olivia Smith had all five of those points, including a three-pointer for the Saints' cause.
Third Quarter – No. 25 EF 51, SF 26
The Titans pulled away even more in the third quarter, however, holding the Saints to just six points in the frame.
Fourth Quarter – No. 25 EF 74, SF 36
In the final period, Eastern Florida continued to find some success from the perimeter, hitting 5-of-10 from downtown to prevail over the Saints.
Key Statistics
SF was cold from the floor all game long, and shot a season-low 17.1 percent from the field.
O. Smith was the lone Saint in double-figures, finishing with 12 points.
Selah Reddick had five points and ten rebounds, while Curry concluded with five points and nine rebounds of her own.
