Women’s Basketball Dismantles FSCJ, 88-47
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe Women's Basketball went on the road and had no trouble with Florida State College at Jacksonville, producing their second-highest scoring output of the season in the team's opening Central Conference victory.
First Quarter – SF 19, FSCJ 12
An 8-0 run helped the Saints get out to a 10-4 lead about four minutes in, with four points apiece from Kelli Cunningham and Selah Reddick.
The first quarter lead grew to as many as 11 after a basket and the foul from Olivia Smith, and the advantage was seven after the first ten minutes of play.
Second Quarter – SF 36, FSCJ 20
The SF defense held the Blue Wave to just eight points in the second quarter.
A 15-0 run helped the Saints open up the comfortable lead, a run capped off by a Taniah Bowers three-pointer.
Third Quarter – SF 64, FSCJ 30
The Saints' 16 point lead more than doubled in the third quarter, highlighted by an explosive 28 points from SF.
The Blue Wave had no answer for the SF execution on both ends of the floor.
Fourth Quarter – SF 88, FSCJ 47
The outcome was never in doubt throughout the rest of the fourth, and the 41-point difference was the Saints largest margin of victory so far this season.
Key Statistics
Every Saint had double-figure scoring, and the team amassed a season-high 27 assists.
SF was led offensively by a 21-point game from Malea Brown, which included four triples and five steals on the defensive end.
In the balanced scoring effort, Cunningham had 18 points, Adout Ring had a season-high 14 to go along with ten rebounds for her first career double-double, and Taniah Bowers added 12 points and eight assists.
Smith (12 points) and Reddick (11) rounded out the box score. Reddick joined Ring with the double-double, snagging a season-high 15 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end.
