Women's Basketball Picks up Win over FSCJ, 61-50
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the second time in less than a week, Santa Fe Women's Basketball came out on top against Florida State College at Jacksonville. For their first meeting in Gainesville, the Saints won by a 61-50 margin, leading most of the way.
First Quarter – FSCJ 13, SF 10
Both teams came out a little slow offensively, and it was the Blue Wave who held the narrow lead after the game's first ten minutes.
Second Quarter – SF 27, FSCJ 19
Santa Fe started to hit some shots on the offensive end in the second frame, and limited FSCJ to just six points as well to go in front.
Malea Brown scored eight of her ten first half points in the second, which included two triples.
Third Quarter – SF 42, FSCJ 30
Three of the Saints' four baskets in the third quarter were from beyond the arc, and the lead grew to 12 headed into the final period.
Fourth Quarter – SF 61, FSCJ 50
In the game's final ten minutes, the Saints continued to keep the Blue Wave at bay, never allowing the guests to ever really threaten the outcome.
Key Statistics
SF had balanced scoring in the win, led by Brown's 12. Selah Reddick had ten, and Cunningham reached double digits with ten as well.
