Women's Basketball Leads Most of Way in 67-57 Win at Daytona State
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Women's Basketball played well on both ends of the floor at Daytona State and led throughout nearly the entire contest to overcome the Falcons, 67-57.
First Quarter – SF 17, DSC 11
The Saints hit three triples in the first quarter and started off well on the road to establish the six-point lead after the first ten minutes.
Malea Brown had five points to pace SF.
Second Quarter – SF 28, DSC 22
SF's advantage held in the second quarter, as the Saints remained a few possessions ahead of the Falcons.
At the end of the half, Brown had already reached double-figures with ten points.
Third Quarter – SF 47, DSC 37
Daytona State had started to trim their deficit down in the final minutes of the third quarter, as SF led by just four, 41-37 in the final minute.
SF expanded their lead to ten with a strong finish to the quarter, however, netting six unanswered, Brown had two drives and finishes from the right side, then Selah Reddick went coast-to-coast for a floater in the lane to beat the buzzer.
Fourth Quarter – SF 67, DSC 57
Every time the Falcons made a push in the final ten minutes, the Saints had an answer.
One of the key shots down the stretch came with the Saints leading 52-48 when the clock went under four minutes to play.
Taniah Bowers took a pass from the top of the key and decided to pull the trigger, finding nothing but net from deep to push the lead right back up to three possessions.
The Saints did all they needed to do to preserve the victory and even the season series with the Falcons, continuing to execute on both ends of the floor when it mattered most.
