Rust College Signs Bowers of Women's Basketball

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Taniah Bowers of Santa Fe College Women's Basketball has signed to continue her collegiate basketball career with Rust College.

In her third season with the Saints in 2021-2022, Bowers was named to the Central Conference First Team. She handled primary ball-handling duties and started in 25 games, providing value in a number of statistical categories, averaging 10.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, a team-high 3.8 assists per game, and a team-high 2.3 steals per game.

Bowers poured in a career-high 26 points in the final home game of the season, an overtime win over St. Petersburg, and notched double-digit scoring on four occasions.

Rust College women's basketball is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC). The college is located in Holly Springs, Miss.

In 2021-2022, Head Coach Eric Jackson Jr. helped lead the Bearcats to a record of 26-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play, becoming GCAC Tournament Champions for the first time in school history. The Bearcats punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round and won one game, 76-74 over Cumberlands, prior to falling by a 66-62 score to Southeastern. Former Saint Zoe Alexander, a teammate of Bowers, also plays for the Bearcats.
