Women's Basketball Separates from Hillsborough, 69-59
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Santa Fe College Women's Basketball took advantage of a dominant third quarter to gain some separation from visiting Hillsborough in the 2022-2023 season opener, and the Saints went on for a double-digit, 69-59 victory over the Hawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening half was competitive throughout, and the first five points went to the Saints on a triple from Isabella Reynolds and a bucket from Triniti Youngblood.
Trailing for the first time in the contest, 19-17 in the early moments of the second quarter, SF went on a 10-0 run to go ahead 27-19. Malea Brown had two three-pointers during the stretch of play.
Brown had another triple to serve as the final basket of the half, and the Saints led 31-27 after the first 20 minutes of play.
The third quarter was when SF turned up their level of play. The Saints outscored the Hawks 21-9 in the frame and went on a 12-0 run, highlighted by eight points from Joey Delancy.
Leading 52-36 headed into the final quarter, SF did what was needed to successfully close out the season's first victory.

The all-time series lead extended to 46-19 in favor of the Saints.
STATISTICS
There were three Saints in double-figure scoring, led by 17 from Delancy and 15 from Brown. Reynolds added 12.
SF won the rebounding battle, 50-42, and were led by 10 rebounds from Janice Paul.
Defensively SF was disruptive, forcing 29 turnovers and accumulating 21 steals. Selah Reddick had five of them.
SF canned ten triples, with four from Reynolds and three from Brown and Delancy.

The Saints head to Florida State College at Jacksonville to face East Georgia State College on the neutral court. Tipoff time is 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4.
