Fast Start Not Enough, Women's Basketball Falls 84-62 to No. 6 Eastern Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College women's basketball was in complete control early In the matchup with No, 6 Eastern Florida State College on Wednesday, but the Titans turned the tide and ran away with an 84-62 victory in the season's first matchup between the two teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints led by margins of 10-2 and 16-4 in the opening five minutes of play. SF seemingly couldn't miss, and came out firing from the perimeter. Isabella Reynolds had two early triples, and Khaleah Douglas added two of her own.
Joey Delancy's basket in the paint pushed the lead to 12 points once again with just 35 seconds left in the opening quarter, but the Titans made a three-pointer to bring the score to 25-16 after the first ten minutes of action.
SF held Eastern Florida to just 5-of-25 shooting in the opening frame and went 10-of-17 themselves and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.
The Titan's offense started to come alive, however, and produced the first seven points of the second quarter.
SF maintained the edge and led 35-32 with about four minutes left in the half, and back-to-back threes from Reynolds and Triniti Youngblood pushed the advantage to nine.
A 13-0 run from the visitor's concluded the first half, however, and the Titans led 45-41.
The second half was dominated by EFSC. The Titans' run extended in the beginning of the second half with eight more unanswered points, and SF quickly faced a 53-41 hole.
The Saints couldn't recover from a lopsided third quarter that saw Eastern Florida outscore SF 18-5, and the Titans went on to the 84-62 Central Conference win.

KEY STATISTICS
Eastern Florida held a 32-20 edge in points in the paint, and outrebounded SF 47-41.
SF also had 19 turnovers to just nine for the Titans, and the Saints were just 3-of-11 from the free-throw line.
It was a career-high scoring night for Reynolds, who had 21 points highlighted by 5-of-9 shooting from the three-point line.
Douglas had ten points, and Delancy added seven points and seven rebounds. Selah Reddick dished out five assists to lead the team in that category.

The Saints (7-10, 0-2 Central) suffered their fifth consecutive loss, and will now seek a road victory on Saturday, Jan. 14 at St. Petersburg. Tipoff time is 2:00 p.m.
