Daytona State Fends Off Women's Basketball, 68-58
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College women's basketball hosted Daytona State College on Wednesday evening, and the visiting Falcons led nearly the whole way to even the season series with the Saints with a 68-58 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Malea Brown and Isabella Reynolds had quick baskets to give SF a 4-2 lead, but the Falcons went on a 9-0 run to seize an 11-4 advantage.
At the end of the opening quarter, the Daytona State lead was still at seven, 18-11.
SF cut the deficit down to three points in the second frame, but DSC was able to maintain the lead and go into the halftime break with a 36-26 advantage.
Brown had 13 first-half points, but the Saints were shooting just 25 percent from the floor and 3-of-17 from beyond the arc.
The shooting woes continued in the second half, and everytime the Saints made a push to work their way back into it, the Falcons had an answer.
The 68-58 win for Daytona State moved the Falcons into sole possession of third place in the Central Conference, while SF will seek to make up ground over the final four Central Conference games this season.

Daytona State held a 52-46 edge on the glass.
SF forced 16 Daytona State turnovers while only committing 11 of its own, but shooting efficiency proved to a primary difference in the game.
The Saints went just 12-of-21 from the free throw line, 6-of-31 from beyond the arc, and finished with a 27.4 percent shooting mark compared to the Falcons' 35.1 percent display.
Brown had 20 points in the loss, Reynolds and Selah Reddick had nine points apiece, and Triniti Youngblood grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds.
Daytona State's Nashani Gilbert put in a game-high 29 points, while Rylan Moffitt had 12 points and 21 rebounds.
