GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 2 Eastern Florida State College started off fast against Santa Fe College women's basketball, and the Saints could never recover in an 86-58 defeat on the home floor.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints fell into an 18-7 hole after the opening quarter, and Eastern Florida continued to dictate play in the second frame as well.
By outscoring SF 25-10 in the second quarter, Eastern Florida established a 43-17 lead.
The Titans outpaced SF 26-2 in points in the paint In the half, and held the Saints to just 13 percent shooting.
SF started to find some more offensive success in the third quarter, and outscored Eastern Florida 24-19 in the third quarter.
17 points would be the closest SF would come in the second half, however, as the Titans swept the season series and remained unbeaten in Central Conference play.
KEY STATISTICS
The Titans won the rebounding battle, 39-28.
Points in the paint were 48-14 in favor of EFSC, and the Titans shot an efficient 55.2 percent compared to 32.7 for SF.
The Saints did soot it well from the free-throw line, finishing 16-of-21.
Malea Brown was the game's leading scorer, finishing with 22 points on 5-of-10 shooting from three-point territory. Selah Reddick was the only other Saint in double-digit scoring, producing 11.
