Saints Bounce Back To Defeat The Falcons
The Falcons fall prey to the Saints
Gainesville, FL.- After suffering a tough defeat on Monday night against the Titans on the road, the Saints bounce back against the Falcons of Daytona State College.
Leading the way for the Saints in the first quarter, Leyah Houston (the former Gainesville High School standout) scored four of the first six points. Since returning from injury her impact on the team has been mounting. Camryn Robinson ended the first quarter by hitting two triples from downtown, putting the Saints up by 5 points. By the end of the first quarter the score was 17-12.
Samari Wilson started the second quarter, leading off with the first 5 points for the Saints. She hit two triples in the second quarter. The Falcons fought back by putting more pressure on the Saints. They also outscored the Saints by 2 points in the second period. #3 Tasia Johnson led the way offensively for the Falcons by scoring 7 of her 19 points. At the end of the first half, the score was 38-35.
In the second half, the Saints started to increase the lead with a balanced attack. Seven different players scored points in the third period for the Saints, which helped the Saints to increase the lead even further (57-51). In the fourth quarter, the Saints used the inside out approach, which allowed them to attack the boards as well as hit 4 triples from beyond the arc. Samari Wilson hit 2 triples. Defensively, the Saints successfully contested shots and rebounded well forcing the Falcons to go scoreless for the first 5 minutes of the fourth quarter. The final score was 79-65. The Saints are now 5-3 on the season.

"I feel like we played well as a team offensively. Defensively they struggled with our zone, which was a good thing. We know we didn't match up with them size-wise. Everybody contributed and played well and they did it more importantly for forty minutes. If we can continue to do that and provide energy and execute, we have a chance to compete. We did those things tonight and I couldn't be any prouder of them."
