Saints Disappointed at Home
Gainesville, FL.- The Saints faced off against Daytona State College for the second time this season. The Saints outlasted the Falcons in their first meeting. This time the Falcons were able to change the narrative with a 4th quarter comeback. They were lead by Bella Weary who had 17 points. Tasia Johnson and Eva Bradshaw both added 12 points. Shakiria Chaney lead the way for the Saints scoring 17 points. Leyah Houston added another 14 points.
How It Happened:
The Falcons jumped out to a 15-7 lead at the start of the first quarter. The Falcons were able to maintain the lead throughout the first quarter as they pressured the Saints on defense and shot the ball well hitting three triples.
At the start of the second quarter the Saints rallied back with a 6-0 run and were able even up the score. The Saints took their first lead in the second quarter after Aissatou Diallo scored a basket while getting fouled. She was able to hit the free throw putting the Saints up 30-28. The score was locked at 30-30 by halftime.
The Saints lead early and often in the second half scoring 20 points in the third to the Falcons 13 points. The Falcons outscored the Saints in the fourth quarter 30-14. The Saints struggled from the free-throw line missing 7 in the fourth while the Falcons hit 8-11.
The Falcons evened the series as they were able to disappoint the Saints at home winning 73-64.
Quote From Coach Jackson:
"We have to play every game with intensity and effort for 40 minutes. Tonight we did not do that. It's going to be tough winning games in the conference if we don't capitalize on the opponents mistakes. We're in the thick of the conference now, so we will need to regroup quickly."
