
Saints Aim to Return to the State Tournament
The Saints finished the 2022-23 season with a 13-16 overall record, a 5-7 conference record, and a berth in the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Women's Basketball Tournament.
The reins to the Women's Basketball program have been handed over to Head Coach Russ Jackson. Former Head Coach Chanda Stebbins was appointed as the new Director of Athletics for Santa Fe College in May. Stebbins completed 21 seasons as Head Coach and surpassed 300 career wins.
"I am excited to begin the season with these young ladies, they have been tasked with learning not only a new coach and staff but also a different way of doing things and they have taken to the changes better than I anticipated. We have a solid nucleus of returning players that have provided leadership and mixed in with a good group of freshmen, who all have been working extremely hard and competing to make each other better" - Russ Jackson.
The Saints finished the 2022-23 season with a 13-16 overall record and a 5-7 conference record. Winning 3 of their last 4 games clinched a berth in the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Women's Basketball Tournament. Leading returner Joey Delancy averaged 9.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and a steal in 32 minutes per game. Delancy also recorded 19 blocks. Other returners include guard Khaleah Douglas, forward Irene Kabassubabo, guard Sydney English, forward Casey Lewis, and forward Janise Paul. Shakiria Chaney transferred to Santa Fe from Georgia Highlands.
The Saints begin the 2023-24 season against East Georgia State College at Florida State College at Jacksonville at 12:00PM on Friday, November 3rd. Conference play begins on the road at Indian River State College at 2:00PM on Saturday, December 9th.
