
Saints Win Second Match of the Day

The Saints entered this match coming off a win against Lurleen B. Wallace Community College earlier in the day. It was a 3-1 set win, with the Saints recording 14 blocks. The Pasco-Hernando State College Bobcats lost to Lurleen B. Wallace 3-2 right before the match. The Saints beat the Bobcats in four sets 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, and 25-23.
Madison Villanueva starting the scoring for the Saints with a kill to break a 3-0 run by the Bobcats to start the first set. Immediately following a Saints timeout with a 10-6 Bobcat lead, Mariana Haas had three kills in a row and Aria Eisel had a service ace to spark a 7-0 Saints run as they took a 13-10 lead, forcing a timeout by the Bobcats. The Bobcats stopped the bleeding at 15-11, but the Saints held on to win the first set 25-21.
Jessica Mckee had the Saints' first kill of the second set, but it was the Bobcats who took a 7-1 lead. The Saints cut the deficit to 8-5, but the Bobcats maintained control as they won the second set 25-18.
Mariana Haas had two service aces, and Maria Contreras and Maria Freitas each added one as the Saints took a 9-4 lead in the third set. However, the Bobcats quickly tied the set 9-9 as the Saints took a timeout. The Saints regained the lead 12-9 following the timeout and extended the lead to 20-14 via a Riley Solomon block and another service ace by Maria Freitas. Maria Contreras' second service ace gave the Saints the third set 25-21.
Lauanna Pino's service ace gave the Saints a 6-3 lead in the fourth set. Maria Contreras had two kills to increase the Saints' lead to 19-12. A block by Contreras gave the Saints a 21-14 lead. Kailyn Howard's 11th kill of the match gave the Saints the fourth set win 25-23.
Maria Freitas led the Saints with three service aces, and Mariana Haas led the team with 16 kills.
The Saints finished with 2.25 blocks per set and nine blocks total.
