Saints Get Back in Win Column
Santa Fe wins their final nonconference match of the 2024 season.

The Saints (10-10, 1-7) hosted the Andrew College Fighting Tigers (2-14) in the final nonconference match of the season. The Saints swept the Tigers in straight sets 25-11, 31-29, 25-10.
The Saints opened the match with three straight kills by Jessica Mckee, Maria Freitas, and Mariana Haas en route to a 6-0 lead in the first set. Jessica Mckee added a service ace to extend the lead to 8-1. Madison Villanueva and Kailyn Howard both added kills, and Mariana Haas had three aces to give the Saints a 14-3 lead. The Fighting Tigers had a couple aces, but Madison Villanueva had another kill and Aria Eisel had an ace of her own to give the Saints a 16-6 lead. Emmy Rowland added an ace to extend the lead to 20-6, and the Saints won the first set 25-11, ended with a kill by Maria Freitas.
Kailyn Howard had a kill and an ace to give the Saints a 3-1 lead in the second set. Andrew College tied the set 4-4 with an ace of their own, and they took their first lead at 5-4. The Saints took a timeout as the Fighting Tigers extended their lead to 11-6. An ace by the Fighting Tigers extended their lead to 16-7. A block by Kailyn Howard and kill by Jessica Mckee cut the Saints' deficit to 17-10, prompting a timeout by the Fighting Tigers. Kailyn Howard and Madison Villanueva combined for a block to put the score at 22-15, and Kailyn Howard added a kill following a timeout to cut the Saints' deficit to 23-19. Jessica Mckee had a block to bring the Saints within two at 23-21. Facing set point for the Fighting Tigers at 24-21, the Saints tied the set 24-24 with a kill by Kailyn Howard and back-to-back aces by Mariana Haas. Jessica Mckee had a kill to keep the Saints alive at 26-26, and Mariana Haas gave the Saints the Set Two win 31-29.
The Saints took a 3-0 lead to start the third set, and a block by Madison Villanueva extended the lead to 10-3. A kill by Maria Contreras and an ace by Aria Eisel extended the lead to 12-4. Kierston Giesey added a couple kills and a combined block with Jessica Mckee to extend the lead to 17-7. The Saints ended the third set 25-10 with three aces in a row by Mariana Haas.
The Saints move to 11-10, 1-7 and will travel to Winter Haven, FL on Saturday, October 19th to face Polk State College at 2:00 PM EDT.
