Saints Host Take Stock in Children Group
Gainesville, FL
Roughly 60 students from Monroe County toured the Santa Fe College campus and attended a panel hosted at the Santa Fe Gymnasium featuring numerous Saints student-athletes about what it is like to be a student-athlete at Santa Fe College for the second straight year as part of the Take Stock in Children Overnight Tour.
"We are excited to host groups like the Take Stock students from Monroe County. Groups like these who travel the state to help showcase schools Santa Fe to high school students are invaluable. They give high school students the chance to experience our campus and engage with our ambassadors and student-athletes as well as personally see what makes SF so special."
Take Stock in Children (TSIC) is the flagship program of the Monroe County Educational Foundation which provides Florida Prepaid college scholarships to qualified students in grades 6-12 upon their high school graduation who reside in low-income households. Monroe County is the southernmost county in Florida and encompasses the Florida Keys and the Everglades. TSIC makes concentrated efforts to break the cycle of poverty for low income and underrepresented students who are academically qualified, as a result they have earned the Monroe County model of TSIC Gold Level for the 9th consecutive year. TSIC does not just provide scholarships to students, but they also provide mentoring and college success counselors who are dedicated to evolving Florida students one at a time.
