Baseball Defeats St. Pete in 10 Innings, 7-6
Gainesville, FL – The FCSAA #4 Santa Fe Saints (15-3) needed extra innings on Thursday afternoon to fend off a resilient St. Petersburg College team, defeating the Titans 7-6 in 10. Call Graham picked up the win in relief, holding off a hard charging SPC in the bottom of the ninth after they loaded the bases with the game tied and one out.

Gainesville, FL – The FCSAA #4 Santa Fe Saints (15-3) needed extra innings on Thursday afternoon to fend off a resilient St. Petersburg College team, defeating the Titans 7-6 in 10. Call Graham picked up the win in relief, holding off a hard charging SPC in the bottom of the ninth after they loaded the bases with the game tied and one out.
Santa Fe starter Trent Johnson was strong on the hill, holding the Titans to just one run through the first six innings. The SF offense provided a jolt in the third, putting four runs on the board, paced by a two out, two RBI single from designated hitter Haydn Cano to go ahead 5-0. They added a run in the fourth to build a 6-1 margin, one they held until the seventh.
In the seventh, the Titans finally got to Johnson, scoring two runs on three hits to cut it to a 6-3 SF lead.
SPC completed their comeback in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three more runs to knot the game at 6-6. The Titans actually loaded the bases with just one out and the winning run on third, but SF closer Call Graham shut the door, giving Santa Fe a shot in extra innings.
The Saints didn't waste any time, putting a run on the board in the tenth to retake the lead. Brandon Hernandez scored all the way from second on an infield single by Cole Parks for the 7-6 advantage.
Graham finished the game off on the mound, stranding a base runner in the bottom of the tenth.
The win gives SF its seventh straight victory, and fifteenth of the season.
Santa Fe pounded out 14 hits as a team on the day. Chad Stockdale continued his torrid pace, going 3-for-3 with an RBI, giving him eight hits and five RBI in his last three games. He upped his average to .387 in the process. Matt Allen was 3-for-4, Brandon Hernandez 2-for-6 with a double, and Cole Parks was 2-for-5.
The Saints will return home on Friday, February 26 for a game against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at 3:00 PM, and face off again against St. Petersburg College on Saturday at noon in double header action.
