
Adams to Continue Career at Southeastern University
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Robb Adams of Santa Fe College Baseball has signed to compete for the Southeastern University Fire in Lakeland, Florida.
Southeastern University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in The Sun Conference.
Adams is going to play for Head Coach Adrian Dinkle, who is in the midst of his fifth season with the Fire.
Dinkle has helped lead Southeastern's program to new heights. In his first season as head coach, he earned 50 wins, breaking the school's previous record. In his second season at Southeastern, Dinkel led the Fire to their most historic season to date, winning a program-best 59 games and leading SEU to win the 2018 Avista NAIA-World Series. The Fire defeated four former National Champions in their perfect 8-0 sweep of NAIA postseason play., and the championship marked the first NAIA National Title in Southeastern University Athletics history.
In 2019, the Fire earned the program's first Sun Conference Championship and a return trip to the NAIA World Series where the team finished fifth. In the 2020 season shortened by Covid-19, he led the team to a record of 26-1, winning 25 in a row and setting yet another program record.
Adams, the Arcadia, Florida native and DeSoto County High School graduate, will join the Fire and make an immediate impact for the SEU pitching staff.
He was the ace on the mound in 2021 for the Saints and helped lead SF to a runner-up finish in the FCSAA State Tournament.
On the season, the 6'3" left-handed pitcher appeared in 16 games, starting in 13 of them. He pitched in 87.1 innings for a record of 7-2 with one save. He recorded 87 strikeouts and had an ERA of 1.96, which ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA Division I.
Number 21 threw a no-hitter in a 5-0 win against Northwest Florida State College to send SF to the FCSAA State Tournament Championship Game. His no-hitter is believed to be the first and only to ever occur in the FCSAA State Tournament. The historic outing earned him Bob Zerky Pitcher of the Tournament honors and NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week recognition.
He also pitched a complete game shutout in a February 16th matchup against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College to be consequently named FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Pitcher of the Week. Adams' 2021 accolades additionally include: Mid-Florida Conference Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-Mid-Florida Conference, and First Team FCSAA All-State honors.
